Haney Paschal & Romoser, P.C. Participated in Neons for Neurons to Raise Awareness for Stroke

Haney Paschal & Romoser, P.C. participated in the 4th annual Neons for Neurons fun run on May 5, 2017. Huntsville Memorial Hospital hosted the event to raise awareness of stroke. The event was a 5k color run. The runners started and finished near Huntsville Memorial Hospital. The runners were showered with color along the way.

Message about Stroke from Huntsville Memorial Hospital

The 5k race was called “Color Me FAST.” F.A.S.T. stands for Face: smile, Arm: raise both arms, Speech: repeat this phrase, and Time: call 9-1-1. The participants were educated on how to recognize someone who is having a stroke and get that person help quickly. The goal was to raise awareness of stroke and decrease the incidence of stroke in Walker County. Stroke is the third leading cause of death in the United States. More than 140,000 people die each year from stroke in the United States. Stroke is the leading cause of serious, long-term disability in the United States. On average, someone in the United States has a stroke every 40 seconds. Therefore, raising awareness of stroke is an important cause.

Fun Activities at the Event

In addition to the run, there were fun activities for kids and adults before and after the race. Before the race, there was music, bounce houses, face painting, and games for children. After the race, a Mexican style dinner was served to all participants. The participants all received shirts from the run.
